Why we exist

The future of AI should be shaped by the people who will live and work in it

AI is already changing the systems, institutions, and ways of working that people depend on. But the ability to understand, experiment with, and influence these changes requires new spaces and relationships where knowledge can flow freely.

Why we exist

Nobody trained for this future. Nobody has to learn it alone.

Welcome to Agent Build Club, and thank you for visiting.

We all know AI is changing the future of work, and the future of business and entrepreneurship. University communities and businesses are asking many of the same questions about it, yet they are mostly working out the answers apart.

I'm Michael Kohn. I have spent my career helping universities and industry collaborate and innovate together, working as an architect, an academic, a technology founder and, most recently, an innovation adviser inside universities.

For the last two years I have also been a student again, taking online courses from the many fantastic AI educators who are helping businesses and professionals transform their work with AI. I know what it is like to learn this subject from the beginning. I also know how hard it can be to find the right course for where you are in your own journey, and how often courses assume knowledge you may not have yet.

I wanted to start something that captured the velocity of professional, applied AI learning and the inclusive spirit of university communities, with a clear role for business to play. In my experience, universities and businesses learn about new technology separately and compare notes late; much of the learning happens alone, when the judgement to use AI well is built with other people; and the people most affected by change are rarely the ones who get to shape it. To truly innovate, we need more kinds of people involved, building confidence in the solutions together.

Agent Build Club is my answer to what I believe is a missing piece of the jigsaw in AI education: a co-learning community designed to bridge academia and business, and to add to the learning and innovation ecosystems already found across the UK and around the world. We work with universities, businesses and applied AI educators to run programmes and events where researchers, lecturers, students and graduates work alongside businesses and practitioners, learning, practising, critiquing and solving problems with AI together. For educators, that means a route to bring their teaching into university communities.

My aim is that businesses gain new ideas and early access to talent, universities strengthen their existing and future partnerships around a shared interest in AI, and, most importantly, the next generation of AI builders gains the experience and connections that lead to good work and new ventures.

We are early in our journey, with a lot of exciting projects in the pipeline. I hope you will benefit from what Agent Build Club is building, enjoy it and be part of it. If you think you can help, or would simply like to find out more, do get in touch with me on LinkedIn or by email.

Thank you,

Michael Kohn, founder of Agent Build Club

What we are for

Our Vision, Mission and Values

Vision

People and AI doing better work together, with everyone who is curious given a real chance to shape what comes next.

A co-learning community where education, research, innovation and business meet as work, learning and enterprise change. You do not need to be technical to belong: builders, designers, ethicists and practitioners all have a part to play.

Mission

To build the first co-learning network, starting at UK anchor universities and reaching out to more institutions.

Programme by programme, we are proving that this way of working pays off for everyone in it. Businesses gain new capability and an early view of talent. Institutions gain partnerships and impact. Learners gain employability and the confidence to start something of their own.

How we work

Practising what we teach

Agent Build Club helps people learn to build with AI, so we're doing it ourselves. A small team of people works alongside a growing flock of AI agents, each with a name, a species and one job. We write up what works, what doesn't and what we change in our Field Notes.

Moss, a sheepdog, Agent Build Club's governance agent

Moss

Sheepdog

Governance

Checks what the other agents may use, where it came from and whether we have the right to it. Herds the whole flock without ever biting.

Spink, a chaffinch, Agent Build Club's illustrator agent

Spink

Finch

Illustrator

Draws the continuous line work across the site and the decks. Works to Maitri's brief, and knows when a composition is fighting the page.

Kitty, a wren, Agent Build Club's blog writer agent

Kitty

Wren

Blog Writer

Drafts Foresight pieces and Field Notes from research conversations and build logs. Maitri edits. Small voice, carries.

Hover, a kestrel, Agent Build Club's speaker scout agent

Holds the events calendar, the logistics and the follow-ups. Returns to the same dates every year without being asked.

Frank, a heron, Agent Build Club's project manager agent

Tracks what is moving and what has quietly stopped. Still for a long time, then decisive.

Parley, a rook, Agent Build Club's business advisor agent

Pye, a magpie, Agent Build Club's researcher agent

Pye

Partner with us

Can we co-design a programme with you?

We're working with universities, employers, technology vendors and educators to shape the future of applied AI education. Bring a theme, your audience or a skills gap. We design the runs, the events and challenges around it, bring in additional partners as needed and run the end-to-end programme with or for you.

Lead partners fund, host or back a programme or a single run, so it can be free to everyone in it. They are credited on it, at its events and in what it produces.
